Wingly's procedure for pilots following recent events surrounding Covid-19

05/01/2021 UPDATE: In light of the latest announcements, please be sure to keep your calendars and passengers updated with regards to rescheduling any flights. Unfortunately, national lockdown will prevent flight-sharing operations from going ahead until restrictions are eased.

What restrictions have been put in place?

The government has imposed a variety of Coronavirus lockdown restrictions throughout the UK. Please be sure to check which measures apply to you as the situation develops. In all cases, face-mask use, social distancing and hygiene measures must be implemented and respected.

What advice does Wingly give in terms of managing my bookings?

Keep your Wingly calendar updated in order to avoid receiving bookings for dates when you are unable to fly. For information on how to use your calendar, click here.
Don't feel obligated to accept a booking for the proposed date if it doesn't suit you. Discuss the flight with your passengers and make use of the rescheduling button if necessary.
If you are unable to reschedule a flight, cancel the flight once the passengers have been informed. For information on how to cancel a flight, click here.
In the event of a cancellation, ensure your passengers that they will be fully refunded, or that their gift cards will be extended and ready to use for a later date.

If a flight can go ahead, what precautions should I take?

Make sure you are up-to-date with the latest advice via the Government's Coronavirus General Aviation page.
Use face-masks when meeting your passengers and when you are inside the aircraft.
Maintain a two-metre social distance when outside the aircraft and as much distance as possible when inside the aircraft.
Hygiene measures such as washing your hands and disinfecting surfaces, headsets etc. should be built-in as part of your flying routine.

Will the website still be fully functioning?

The Wingly website will remain functioning throughout the ongoing pandemic, meaning passengers will still be able to send you booking requests and purchase gift cards towards your flights. We encourage our pilots to use this time to update their Wingly calendars and work on their Wingly profiles, ensuring that flights are posted and ready for the expected demand as restrictions ease.

Remember that protecting yourself is also protecting others around you. If you do have the slightest of symptoms, please don't forget to contact your health care professional who will advise you on how to proceed. Make sure to wear a mask and maintain social distance in order to limit the spread of the virus.
