What should I do if I am asked to pay outside of the Wingly website?

If you pay for a booking outside of the Wingly website, you may be paying for a fraudulent booking and will not be covered by Wingly insurance.

The law states that any pilot enrolled in a flight-sharing, cost-sharing scheme as a civil pilot rather than a commercial pilot cannot earn money from flying, rather only divide the costs of the flight. These costs include: the fuel, rental of the aircraft and landing fees - no profit is made by the pilot from flight-sharing. We're happy to explain the cost-division should you have any concerns, simply contact us via hello@wingly.io for further information.

If you're unsure as to whether your booking has been paid for or you are asked to pay cash/money transfer upon arriving at the airfield or airport, please contact us immediately.

When booking a cost shared flight through Wingly, you benefit from the additional liability insurance as a passenger and therefore, there should be no cash-handling or money transfers made outside of the Wingly website as this breaks the contract between Wingly, the pilot and the passenger meaning you will no longer be insured.

If you require further information on the legality of flight-sharing and how this applies to Wingly, you're welcome to look here. Alternatively, the official EASA website page stating the law is here.

*When booking through Wingly, you are safely insured by Allianz
