How do flight requests work for a passenger?

Can't find the flight you're looking for?

Flight request is a new Wingly feature which boosts the possibilities for passengers to connect even further with pilots. In the event that you cannot find the flight you desire, you as a passengers will now be able to "request a flight," which will be seen by, and can subsequently be accepted by, all pilots in your area.

How do I create a new flight request?

Log in to your Wingly account at

Firstly, on our Home Page, click the top right hand corner and select 'Flight Request' from the drop-down menu.

Alternatively, on our Home Page, enter the destination you wish to fly from e.g. London. From here, there are 2 scenarios in which you may need to create a flight request.

When you narrow down the criteria of your desired flight (e.g. number of passengers, budget, aircraft type etc.), you may find that there are no posted flights in your area which match the criteria you have entered.

When you have browsed through all of the available flights in your area, if you do not find any which interest you, you will find the option to 'Create a Flight Request' at the bottom of the page.

Select the type of flight you would like to experience.

There are 3 options:
Sightseeing - local flights, usually lasting between 1-2 hours, departing from and returning to the same airfield
Excursion - usually a day trip or weekend trip, departing from and returning to the same airfield after a stop-off in a destination of interest
One-way - travel from one point to another, departing from one airfield and landing at a different airfield

Select the area you would like to fly from by typing and choosing from the drop-down menu, then enter the type of aircraft you would like to experience.

If the flight type you selected was excursion or one-way, select the destination of your flight by typing and choosing from the drop-down menu.

Select the number of passengers who would like to enjoy the flight (maximum 5), and enter their respective weights.

When entering passengers weights, please be as accurate as possible. Light aircraft are very sensitive to weight restrictions, and inaccuracy of information provided may lead to a pilot having to reject your booking at late notice. Also please ensure you enter the weights in kgs, and no other metric

Select the dates you are available to fly from the calendar.

The more flexible you are, the better! Selecting more dates you are available increases the likelihood pilots will also be available and able to accept your flight request.

If necessary, also enter the specific time when you wish to fly by clicking on 'I need to fly at a specific time' and entering the time in the given fields. If you do not select this option, pilots will assume you are fully flexible throughout the day and may propose a flight at any time.

Write a short description of the kind of flight you would like to experience.

Not sure what to include? Here is an example:

Remember: guidelines of what could be included in your description are written beneath the textbox

Select your rough budget for the flight experience.

Remember, you will still receive flight offers from pilots at all price points so that you are able to consider all options available to you. This is just a potential estimate, the actual costs offered by pilots will differ due to different aircraft operating costs and landing fees.

Once you are happy with the information, select 'Request Flight'.

You will now see a rough estimate of the cost and flight time of your requested flight, as shown below. Once you have read this, click 'Post request'.

Please note this is an estimate, not a final quote. You will only receive the final quote once the pilot has responded to your request.

Prices are based on distance of flight, aircraft type and landing fees at different airfields.

What happens now?

Your request will be sent to all active pilots in the area you have requested to fly from.

If any accept your request, they will send you a direct message via the Wingly platform. So make sure to check these regularly! From here, you can confirm you are still interested in the flight and, together with your pilot, plan the experience together!

How do I manage and view my existing flight requests?

On the Home Page, head to the top right corner and select 'Flight Request' from the menu.

You will be directed to the Flight Request dashboard, where you can see all the previous flight requests you have created and delete them if necessary.

If you haven't already, now is the chance to verify your account. This is not compulsory but is strongly recommended as it means you are more likely to have your flight requests accepted by pilots. To find out more about why, please read our article: Why as a passenger do I need to verify my account?
